Neurology Physician Jobs & Recruitment
This is the Neurology hub I send candidates and clients to when they want my honest read on the specialty — what's actually moving in offers, which contract clauses are worth fighting over, and what has changed since the last time you looked at the market.
What the Neurology market looks like from my desk
Neurology is structurally undersupplied across nearly every sub-discipline I cover. Stroke, epilepsy, movement-disorders, headache, and neuromuscular all have hospital-employed and academic searches with longer lead times than most other specialties. Telestroke and tele-neurology have created a national market for hospital-employed and platform-employed neurologists that didn't exist five years ago and is now a real comp benchmark.
What Neurology compensation actually looks like in offers I close
General neurology offers I close run $295K-$345K base with consult and EEG-read productivity overlay. Stroke neurology and neurohospitalist work clears $375K-$425K, and subspecialty work (epilepsy, movement disorders, neuromuscular with EMG) commands $350K-$425K depending on procedural mix. Telestroke coverage stipends have professionalized with night-coverage rates of $450-$650 per hour and are pulling daytime comp benchmarks up alongside.
Neurology contract clauses I push back on
Neurology contracts need scrutiny on EEG-read volumes (which can quietly become a productivity floor), call-coverage stipend language for telestroke and inpatient consults, and outpatient panel expectations during clinic ramp-up. Restrictive covenants for neurologists who do significant tele-work need to be scoped to actual employer service area, not blanket geographic radius.
What has shifted in Neurology hiring recently
Telestroke and tele-neurology have become structurally integrated into hospital coverage models, creating a hybrid in-person/remote market with distinct comp structures. New disease-modifying therapies in neuromuscular and Alzheimer's care have created procedural and infusion-clinic revenue streams that didn't exist a few years ago. And epilepsy monitoring unit and stereo-EEG capability commands accelerating premiums in academic and large-community programs.
